During the debate in the court, lawyer CU Singh, who appeared on behalf of the petitioner, said that Shiv Dhaba is a chain, they have formed a chain all over India, anyone can run it, be it a Sikh, Muslim or Christian. After the hearing, the court has stayed the government directive asking the eateries located on the Kanwariya Yatra route to write the names of the owners and has issued notice to the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh on the petitions challenging its directive asking the eateries located on the Kanwariya Yatra route to write the names of the owners.

The Supreme Court has sought their reply and has fixed the hearing of the case on July 26. The Supreme Court has said that food vendors should not be forced to write the names of owners and employees. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had held a review meeting with officers on July 19 and had instructed to write the name of the owner and operator of every shop falling on the route of Kanwar pilgrims across the state. The Chief Minister had also ordered action against those selling halal products.
