WPL 2024 Match 15 Highlights: Delhi Capitals Women vs UP Warriorz Women

UP Warriorz Women registered a crucial win in Match 15 of Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 over Delhi Capitals as they beat them by one run in a thrilling encounter.

After opting to bat first, UP posted a decent score of 138/8 in their allotted 20 overs riding on a half-century from Deepti Sharma (59 off 48). In reply, Delhi were bundled out for 137 in 19.5 overs and lost the game by one run.

The table toppers were cruising for a win with 15 runs needed off the last 12 balls having six wickets in hand. However, they were left stunned by Deepti Sharma who picked three wickets in the penultimate over and Grace Harris who picked two more in the last over and successfully defended nine runs. As a result, UP registered a crucial win to stay alive in the knockouts race.

1. Deepti Sharma scores second consecutive fifty

The all-rounder was the lone warrior with the bat as she registered her second consecutive half-century. The southpaw played a brilliant knock of 59 (48) with the help of six fours and a six guiding her team to a total of 138/8.

2. Meg Lanning completes a hat-trick of half-centuries

The Delhi Capitals captain registered her third consecutive half-century scoring 60 (46) with the help of 12 fours. Until she was at the crease, Lanning made run-scoring look easy taking Delhi’s score to 93 in 14 overs. Notably, Lanning earlier scored 55 and 53 against Gujarat and Mumbai respectively.

3. Deepti Sharma makes the ball talk

After a magnificent half-century, Deepti Sharma put her all-round skills on display as she picked 4/19 to script UP’s comeback. She first got the prized scalp of Meg Lanning and later picked three more wickets in the penultimate over of the game giving just five runs away.
