Why is it Prohibited to Worship Peepal Tree on Sunday? Know this and Other Rules Related to its Worship
One of these is the Peepal tree, which is sometimes considered to be the abode of ghosts and sometimes of Saturn, Hanuman ji, Shri Hari Vishnu and Mahadev Shiva. It is said that one should not touch the Peepal tree or offer water to it even by mistake on Sunday. Doing this will be faced with a number of misfortunes in their life.
Watering the Peepal tree on Sunday brings poverty
Then Mother Lakshmi and her elder sister Daridra went to Lord Vishnu and said to him, O Lord of the world, please give us a place to live. Then Lord Vishnu said that both of you should reside on the Peepal tree. After this both the sisters started living in the Peepal tree. But when Lord Vishnu wanted to marry Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Lakshmi hesitated saying that her elder sister Daridra was not married. She can marry only after their marriage.
Then Lord Vishnu asked Daridra – Tell me what kind of groom you want to get, I will find a similar groom. Then Daridra said, O God, please find a husband for me who belongs to the family of gods or humans but who never worships after marriage. Also give me shelter at a place where no one worships. Daridra, in her understanding, had set such a condition that Narayan would not be able to fulfill it. Which groom from the family of Gods or the family of humans would be ready to go to hell after marriage by giving up worshipping? She was sure that she had found a suitable groom. On the other hand, Lord Vishnu started searching for a groom for Daridra and finally he found a groom named Rishi for Daridra. The sage and the poor got married. Now, as per the condition of poverty, both of them had to live in a place where no religious activities were carried out.
Lord Vishnu has allowed Lakshmi’s sister Daridra to reside in the Peepal tree only for one day a week, i.e. a Sunday. Then Vishnu asked Daridra to reside in the Peepal tree for the whole day on Sunday. On Sunday, all the gods and goddesses leave the Peepal tree and hence worshiping the Peepal tree is prohibited on Sunday, giving Daridra and her husband complete control over the peepal tree. Therefore, if you give water to Peepal tree on Sunday then poverty will come in your house. And you will be disappointed in every task that you undertake. Therefore, one should avoid watering the Peepal tree on Sunday.
Lighting lamp at the root of the Peepal
Lighting a lamp at the root of Peepal tree brings prosperity to one, whereas lighting a lamp of mustard at the root of Peepal helps to remove poverty from the house and it is also said to remove several planetary defects. From astrological point of view Saturday is considered a very special day for this. On this day, many special measures are taken to remove the planetary defects and to remove the problems arising from Saturn’s Sadesati.
The best way to use Peepal leaves
To remedy the Peepal leaves, one should clean the Peepal leaf with Ganga water on Thursday. Then one should write Om Shreem Hi Shreem Namah on it with yellow sandalwood and place a silver coin on this leaf and keep it in your safe. If you do not have a silver coin, then write Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya Namah on a Peepal leaf and keep it at any holy place in the house. After the address dries, immerse it in the river. With this, Gods will be pleased with you and shower many blessings upon you and bring happiness and prosperity in your lives.
According to religious texts, Peepal is the place of Vishnu, hence people are afraid of cutting the Peepal tree. But if it is necessary to cut a Peepal tree, it can be cut only on Sunday. Apart from this, cutting it on any other day is also prohibited.
