Prajwal Revanna is the grandson of former Prime Minister of the country and JDS chief HD Deve Gowda. Revanna’s father HD Revanna is a former minister of Karnataka. Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy Hassan is the uncle of the current MP from this seat, Revanna. Revanna was first elected MP from Hassan seat in 2019. This time BJP and JDS are contesting elections in Karnataka. Meanwhile, Revanna has been fielded once again as an NDA candidate from Hassan.
Revanna came into the limelight when 3000 objectionable videos of him surfaced. In this video, Revanna was seen sexually abusing women. The women victimized by the Hassan MP include party workers to high-ranking female officials. After the video surfaced, many women who were victims of Revanna’s rape came forward and filed a complaint against him.
Under which section a case was registered against Prajwal Revanna
The suspended JDS leader has been booked under IPC sections 354A for sexual harassment, 354D for stalking, 506 for criminal intimidation and 509 for outraging the modesty of a woman. Prajwal had released a video a few days ago in which he promised to appear before the SIT on May 31.
What will happen next in the Prajwal Revanna case?
SIT Hasan will present the MP in court today. His 14-day judicial custody can be sought. After hearing the arguments, the court will decide how many days’ remand should be given to Revanna. It is expected that the SIT can be given a week’s remand. After getting him in custody, the SIT will interrogate Revanna in the video scandal and try to know the names of other accused.
