From Delhi to Mumbai, many names are vying for the post of Chief Minister, but after 2014, the BJP took more than 72 hours to choose the Chief Minister. In this scenario, there are many speculations about Maharashtra as well. Here too more than 72 hours have passed. 1. BJP got a chance to form the government in Odisha in 2024. BJP took 8 days to choose the Chief Minister here. The party finally approved the name of Mohan Maji. Maji belongs to tribal community. Odisha had main contenders for the Chief Ministership like Dharmendra Pradhan and Manmohan Sambal, but a surprise face entered in the form of Mohan Majhi. 2. By the end of 2023, BJP came to power in Rajasthan too. Here too the chief ministership lasted for 9 days. Finally a consensus was reached in the name of Bhajanlal Sharma. A first-time MLA, Sharma was the general secretary of the Rajasthan BJP. Vasundhara Raje and Kirori Lal Meena were the big contenders for the post of Rajasthan Chief Minister in 2023. 3. In 2023 BJP came back to power in Madhya Pradesh too. The then Chief Minister was Shivraj Singh Chauhan. Chouhan was also a frontrunner for the chief ministerial post, but eventually his card was cut. Mohan Yadav replaced Sivaraj as Chief Minister. Mohan Yadav was not even in the race for the post of Chief Minister then. It took BJP 8 days to choose the CM in Madhya Pradesh. 4. BJP won Chhattisgarh by the end of 2023. The party had major contenders for the Chief Ministership like Raman Singh and Arun Chau, but the BJP surprised everyone and handed over the Chief Minister's chair to Vishnudev Sai. It took 7 days for BJP to choose CM in Chhattisgarh. 5. In 2017, the BJP won in Uttar Pradesh, the country's largest state. As the government had an absolute majority, all eyes were on the Chief Minister's chair. Manoj Sinha, Keshav Prasad Maurya and others are in the race for the post of Chief Minister. It took BJP 9 days to choose Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. When the BJP announced who will be the Chief Minister in UP, political experts were shocked. In 2017, BJP won Uttarakhand in alliance with UP. At that time, prominent figures like Bhagat Singh Koshyari, BC Khanduri, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank were in the race for the post of Chief Minister. It took 8 days for BJP to form government in Uttarakhand. Eight days after the election results, the reign of Devabhoomi was handed over to Trivendra Singh Rawat. Rawat's post on this post was amazing. 9. Assembly elections were held in Himachal at the end of 2017. Here too BJP took 7 days to choose the Chief Minister. Interestingly, it was also surprising whose names were announced here. After sidelining leaders like Prem Dhumal and JP Natta, the BJP gave Jairam Thakur the post of Chief Minister. Thakur was the Chief Minister from 2017 to 2022. 72-hour pre-decision In 2019, the Bharatiya Janata Party in Haryana decided the Chief Minister 72 hours before. Then, the then Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was again given the charge. Similarly, the BJP took only 48 hours to choose the Chief Minister for the 2022 Gujarat elections.
