WhatsApp’s Upcoming Feature Will Let You Send HD Photos and Videos Automatically

WhatsApp is set to enhance the user experience by simplifying the process of sharing high-definition (HD) photos and videos. The messaging platform initially introduced the feature to send photos in higher quality back in August, allowing users to manually select the resolution for each image, which was considered less convenient.

Many users didn’t even know that the option to toggle media quality was available, so this feature might help in making them aware. It’s also a nice feature to have as you won’t have to change the media quality everytime you send an image or a video.

Automatic HD Media Uploads

Recent insights from the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.7.17 have revealed a new “Media Upload Quality” toggle within the Storage and Data menu. This update will enable users to send all images and videos in HD quality automatically, eliminating the need to manually select the resolution for each file.

When opting for “Standard quality,” the media will be compressed for quicker delive

ry, albeit at the cost of lower quality. In contrast, choosing the “HD quality” will consume six times more file space and result in slower sending speeds.

Flexibility with Quality Settings

Despite the automatic HD quality setting, WhatsApp will retain the option to adjust the quality of individual files within the media sharing screen. This feature provides users with the flexibility to send specific files in a different quality setting when required.

Availability and Updates

Currently, the new HD media sharing feature is being tested among a select group of beta testers. Once all potential issues are resolved, the feature is expected to be rolled out to the stable version of WhatsApp. Users are advised to keep their app updated regularly through Google Play to ensure access to the latest features and improvements.
