West Bengal Sunao Poll: Will Mahua Moitra return to Lok Sabha? Know the predictions of the TV9 poll
Trinamool Congress president Mahua Moitra was suspended for accepting cash gifts instead of asking questions in the Lok Sabha. After being suspended as an MP, Mahua Moitra had promised to return to the Lok Sabha. As per Mahua Moitra's promise, Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee has again fielded her as a candidate for the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha seat in Nadia district. BJP has fielded Rajmata Amrita Rai and CPIM has fielded SM Saadi against Mahua Moitra. The eyes of the country, including West Bengal, are on whether Mahua Moitra will return to the Lok Sabha. A poll by People Intelligence and POLLSTRAT conducted in association with Tv9 Bharatvarsh estimates that Mahua Moitra is returning to the Lok Sabha. Post-election polls have estimated Trinamool Congress candidate Mahua Moitra to get 45.99 per cent of votes and BJP candidate 38.02 per cent. However, the results of the Lok Sabha elections will be declared on June 4. Election results will tell whether Mahua Moitra will win or face defeat. After the suspension, Mahua again became a candidate for the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency on the border with Bangladesh, one of the most talked about Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal. From this constituency, the Trinamool Congress has reinstated suspended Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra in the cash and gifts case. Mamata Banerjee herself has campaigned in support of Mahua Moitra and has said that Mahua Moitra will go to the Lok Sabha after winning the elections again. BJP has fielded Rajmata Amrita Rai and CPIM has fielded SM Saadi against Mahua Moitra. Mahua became MP for the first time in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Trinamool fielded Mahua Moitra for the first time in Krishnanagar. In Krishnanagar, Mahua defeated BJP candidate Kalyan Chaubey by a margin of 65,404 votes. However, he was suspended from the post of MP this year due to allegations of bribery and gifts. Many controversies arose in this regard. In the last few years, Mahua Moitra has become one of the most influential figures in the country's politics. In the 2021 assembly elections, Trinamool won 6 of the seven assembly constituencies under Krishnanagar Lok Sabha. But BJP won in Krishnanagar North constituency. Mukul Roy, who won from there as a BJP candidate, is currently away from politics due to ill health.
