Weapons seized during raids by security forces in Manipur
Arms and explosives were stashed in the border areas of Manipur's Imphal East district. According to reports, a joint team of Indian Army and Manipur Police launched a search operation on Sunday. Due to the complex nature of the area, a military sniffer dog was deployed with the search team. The operation resulted in the recovery of one heavy caliber (70mm) launcher, two 9mm pistols, one 12-barrelled single-barreled gun, one improvised grenade launcher, six hand grenades, two tube missiles, ammunition and ammunition. The seized arms, explosives and ammunition have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation. Imphal district is in the eastern valley region of Manipur and some parts of Vishnupur district are hilly areas, according to a police report. During a search operation at Keinau Manning near High Canal in Vishnupur district, one SMG carbine, one 9mm pistol, nine grenades, two smoke bombs and various types of ammunition were recovered, police said. Earlier in June, during a search operation in Imphal East and Bishnupur districts, security forces recovered a large number of arms and ammunition. During this, 11 hand grenades, 6 IET guns, five 303 guns, 3 detonators, 1 carbine, 1 pistol, explosives and ammunition, four walkie-talkies and two radio sets were also recovered.
