We must learn a lesson… Bangladesh – What did Meghabooba Mufti say about reservation and dictatorship?
The months-long crisis in Bangladesh has now taken a more dangerous shape. Amidst this ongoing violence, since Sheikh Hasina resigned as Prime Minister, several Hindu temples there have been demolished and many houses destroyed and burnt, if media reports are to be believed. Mehbooba Mufti's report on this situation in Bangladesh has also been released. Commenting on the ongoing incidents of violence in Bangladesh, PDP leader Meghbooba Mufti said that our country should learn from the current situation in Bangladesh. Talking about the youth, he said that such situations happen when the country has a large youth population, when the government tries to ignore them and inflation and unemployment overwhelm them. He said, “We should run like Hasina to teach a lesson that dictatorship does not last long when we bring in such policies and laws that violate the limits of patience.” She should run away like Sheikh Hasina. Comparing the youth of Bangladesh with the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, Meghbooba Mufti said that the issue of Jammu and Kashmir should be learned from the incident in Bangladesh because the youth of Jammu and Kashmir also have many problems. They feel helpless and the same happened in Bangladesh. Again pressure, exploitation and UAPA all add to Agniveer Yojana ideas, I think this needs to change. I hope a situation like Bangladesh will not happen again here. He further said that unemployment in our country and Agniveer scheme should be looked at and reservation should not be given at the cost of open eligibility. Addressing the situation, he said anti-people policies like Sheikh Hasina's will end. Talking about the government's reservation, he said that reservation for the weaker sections is good, but this population should also be proportional.
