Waqf Amendment Bill 2024: Proposal to refer Waqf Bill to Joint Committee on demand of MPs
The Modi government will table the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 in Parliament today i.e. Thursday. The bill is sure to face opposition both inside and outside Parliament. The purpose of this bill is to better manage and implement waqf properties. The government will bring two bills related to Waqf in Parliament. The Muslim Waqf Act 1923 will be repealed by a bill. The second bill will make important amendments to the Waqf Act, 1995. The central government is going to make 44 amendments through the amendment bill 2024. In this, Section 40 of the Wakf Act 1995 is repealed, under which the Wakf Board had the right to declare any property as Wakf property. After the passage of this bill, there will be no arbitrary action by the Waqf Board. There is a possibility that there will be an upheaval in the Parliament over this bill.
