Vivo X Fold 3, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro Launched with Snapdragon Chip, ZEISS Cameras: Price, Specs, Design

Vivo has officially launched two new foldable smartphones in China. The line-up includes the Vivo X Fold 3 and Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, with the former debuting as the lightest foldable smartphone in the world.

Weighing just 219 grams, the Vivo X Fold 3 weighs almost the same as the iPhone 15 Pro Max at 221 grams and is lighter than the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which weighs 232 grams. Apart from the build, the Vivo X Fold 3 series also arrives with flagship chipsets and ZEISS optics.

Vivo X Fold 3 Series Design

The Vivo X Fold 3 and X Fold 3 Pro are built to withstand 500,000 folds, according to TÜV Rhinenland. They also feature a lightweight carbon fiber hinge and improved resistance to drops. The Vivo X Fold 3 features an IPX4 rating for resistance to splashes of water, while the IPX8 rating on the X Fold 3 Pro offers superior resistance to water.

The Vivo X Fold 3 series is equipped with an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint readers, under each of the two displays. The Vivo X Fold 3 weighs 219 grams and measures 10.2mm thick when folded and 4.65mm unfolded. On the other hand, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro weighs 236 grams and is slightly thicker, measuring 5.2mm thick when unfolded and 11.2mm when unfolded.

Vivo X Fold 3 Pro Specifications

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The foldable smartphone runs Android 14-based OriginOS 4.0 with Vivo’s Blue LM AI. The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro packs a massive 5,700 mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support.

Vivo’s latest foldable smartphone sports a main 8.03-inch 8T LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels. The panel boasts an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and a 4:3.55 aspect ratio. The screen supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision formats as well as a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The foldable phone also packs stereo speakers with Wireless Lossless Hi-Fi audio.

On the outside, there’s a 6.53-inch 8T LTPO OLED cover display with a resolution of 2748 x 1172 pixels. The panel boasts a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, and a 21.1:9 aspect ratio. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support is also present on the cover screen. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port, and more.

Vivo X Fold 3 Pro Cameras

For optics, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro features a 50 MP VCS Bionic OmniVision OV50H primary sensor with an f/1.68 aperture and OIS support. Additionally, the main camera is paired with a 50 MP Samsung JN1 ultrawide lens with an f/2.0 aperture and a 64 MP OV64B telephoto-periscope shooter with an f/2.57 aperture, OIS, and 3x optical zoom.

The cameras on the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro were co-developed with ZEISS. The phone also comes with a custom V3 ISP. The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro’s rear cameras can record video in both 4K and 8K resolution. Lastly, the foldable smartphone has a 32 MP selfie camera on each of the displays with an f/2.4 aperture.

Vivo X Fold 3 Specifications

The vanilla X Fold 3 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Moreover, the foldable also has a smaller 5,500 mAh battery with 80W wired fast charging and no wireless charging support. The display specifications on the Vivo X Fold 3 are the same as the ‘Pro’ model.

For cameras, the Vivo X Fold 3 opts for a 50 MP Sony IMX920 primary sensor with an f/1.75 aperture and OIS support. The ultrawide lens is the same as the ‘Pro’ model, although the vanilla variant uses a 50 MP Sony IMX816 portrait sensor with a 50mm FOV and an f/1.85 aperture. Additionally, the Vivo X Fold 3 features the same front cameras and ZEISS optics as the X Fold 3 Pro.

Vivo X Fold 3 Series Pricing, Colors

The Vivo X Fold 3 price is set at CNY 6,999 (roughly Rs 80,800) for the base 12GB/256GB model. Moreover, Vivo’s foldable also comes in 16GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB variants that costs CNY 7,499 (roughly Rs 86,600), CNY 7,999 (roughly Rs 92,350), and CNY 8,999 (roughly Rs 1,03,900), respectively.

The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro price is set at CNY 9,999 (roughly Rs 1,15,450) for the base 16GB/512GB configuration, while the 16GB/1TB variant is priced at CNY 10,999 (roughly Rs 1,27,000), respectively. The Vivo X Fold 3 Series comes in Light Feather White and Thin Wing Black color options. As of now, there is no word about the Vivo X Fold 3 series’ availability outside China.
