Video refutes claims of derogatory remark by Virender Sehwag in IPL 2024 commentary

The PL 2024 season kicked off on Friday, with the Chennai Super Kings securing a resounding victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai. In addition to the on-field action, the broadcasters assembled an all-star commentary team. The panel featured seasoned former cricketers like Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina, who gave expert analysis of the match.

However, the inclusion of social media influencer Orry in the pre-match coverage caught the attention of many viewers. With his vast popularity on social platforms and close ties to top Bollywood stars, Orry was an unexpected addition to the lineup for the IPL opener.

A video has now surfaced that refutes earlier claims. Despite fan criticism on social media, it shows that Sehwag never used an alleged derogatory term to describe Orry. The confusion stemmed from a past interaction between Sehwag and Orry that many misinterpreted.

A viral post on Twitter falsely accused Sehwag of using a derogatory term to refer to the LGBTQ+ community.

Sehwag, a member of the Haryanvi commentary team on the Star Sports network, joined the Hindi pre-match show for the 2024 Indian Premier League’s opening game.

On Friday, the Chennai Super Kings, led by new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, notched a six-wicket victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore to kick off their 2024 IPL campaign. After RCB captain Faf du Plessis chose to bat first, Chennai seized control when they reduced Bangalore to 78-5. Despite losing the toss, Chennai dictated the terms of the match from that point forward en route to the win.
