IPL 2024: In the thrilling match of IPL played on Wednesday, Delhi Capitals defeated Gujarat Titans by 4 runs. During this match, once again the umpiring of the current IPL season came into discussion. There has been an uproar on social media regarding a catch of Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw. Some fans on social media have raised the question whether Noor Ahmed’s catch of Prithvi Shaw was clean or not, was Prithvi Shaw not out?
Gujarat Titans fast bowler Sandeep Warrier came to bowl in the fourth over of Delhi Capitals’ innings. Sandeep Warrier first dismissed Delhi Capitals’ dangerous batsman Jack Fraser-McGurk (23) in his over. After which Sandeep Warrier bowled the fifth ball of his over to Prithvi Shaw. Prithvi Shaw played a mid-air pull shot on Sandeep Warrier’s bouncer.
There was an uproar over Noor Ahmed’s catch
Noor Ahmed was fielding near the boundary for Gujarat Titans. Noor Ahmed took a brilliant catch of Prithvi Shaw while diving in the air but later questions were raised on it. Whether Noor Ahmed took a clean catch or not. The decision to catch it was left to the third umpire. Replays showed that the ball was hitting the ground but according to the third umpire, Noor Ahmed’s fingers were under the ball. After this, the third umpire ruled in favor of Gujarat Titans and gave a legal contract to the catch of Noor Ahmed.
Wasn’t Prithvi shown out?
Prithvi Shaw was out after scoring 11 runs and had to return to the dugout. There has been an uproar on social media over this catch of Noor Ahmed. Most fans believe that this catch was not clean and Prithvi Shaw was not out. Delhi Capitals defeated Gujarat Titans by four runs thanks to half-centuries from captain Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel and a century between them. Chasing Delhi’s target of 225 runs, Titans could only score 220 runs for 8 wickets despite half-centuries from Sai Sudarshan (65 runs) and David Miller (55 runs). Sai Sudarshan also added 82 runs for the second wicket with opener Wriddhiman Saha (39). For Delhi, Rasik Salam took 3 wickets while Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets.
