UP News: Highway travel to become expensive in UP from tonight, toll hike
Lucknow: Toll tax on highways in UP will increase on Sunday night. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has hiked tolls for cars, buses and trucks. Tax is increased from Rs.5 to Rs.25. This tax will be increased from the night of June 2. A list of new charges is also posted at the toll booth. It is said that the order to increase customs duty has been put on hold in view of the Lok Sabha elections. There has been a hike of about 5 to 7 percent in tolls, which is also applicable to monthly passes. The tax was hiked on April 1, with effect from June 2. As per information, NHAI increased toll tax rates from April 1. But it was postponed due to elections. An order has been issued to implement this from 12 midnight on June 2 after polling on June 1. NHAI determines the toll rates by assessing the damage caused to the road by heavy vehicles. These vehicles range from cars to buses and trucks. The distance between two toll booths is usually 60 kilometers. The maintenance of the highway is also done through this toll. Earlier, the customs duty rate was higher on April 1, 2022 as well. It has been increased from Rs.10 to Rs.65. Updating… The post UP News: Highway travel to become expensive in UP from tonight, toll hike appeared first on Prabhat Khabar.
