UP: 42 bank lockers broken into in Lucknow… Two miscreants encounter in 48 hours
A fight broke out between two suspects in the Indian Overseas Bank robbery (IOB robbery) case at Komtinagar, Lucknow. One accused in Ghazipur, another accused in Lucknow. Both the accused were killed in the firing by the police in the encounter. Bihar-based convict Sunnydayal's encounter took place in Ghazipur on Tuesday morning. The encounter with the second accused, Sobind Kumar, took place on Monday night. He was undergoing treatment at Ram Manohar Logia Hospital. But he also died on Tuesday morning. A reward of Rs 25,000 was announced for both the accused. The theft was carried out by seven thieves. Now two of them have died. Further police action continues. According to information, the Para Outpost Incharge stopped two suspected motorcyclists during the raid. Both of them got scared and started running towards the Bihar border. Then he had an encounter with the police. As the police chased them, the assailants started firing. The police also retaliated. A criminal was shot, due to which he fell. The second accused took advantage of the darkness and fled. The injured person has been identified as Sannidayal. A pistol, live bullets, bank stolen jewelery and Rs 35500 in cash were recovered from him. The injured accused was taken to CHC Padaura. But his condition was deteriorating and he was referred to Ghazipur district hospital. Doctors declared him dead here. The accused is a resident of Mungar in Bihar. DCP Shashank Singh said, DCP's crime team was combing the area on Tuesday morning. Then a swift car was coming fast. When the police tried to stop him, one of them fired at the police. When the police retaliated, one accused was injured. Meanwhile, another person ran away. The arrested accused has been identified as Sobind Kumar. A large quantity of white and yellow metal was recovered from him. The injured was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The body of the accused has been sent for post-mortem. 2-Hour Heist: Thieves fled Indian Overseas Bank's Sinhat branch on December 22 after stealing jewelery and items worth crores. The thieves stayed in the bank for 2 hours. Four thieves have committed this theft. Meanwhile, the three were standing outside watching everything. According to the police, four thieves have reached the locker of the Indian Overseas Bank by cutting the wall. Subsequently, they cut 42 lockers with electric cutters and looted jewels and documents worth crores of rupees. Thieves committed this crime on Sunday. Because the bank is also closed on Sundays. In this situation, the thieves cut the wall from the vacant plot near the bank. On Sunday, when a shopkeeper went towards the spot, he found the wall cut. He then informed the police. When the police reached the spot on information, when they searched inside the bank, they found that 42 of the 90 lockers had been hacked. These lockers contained jewelery and documents worth crores of rupees. When the police started the investigation, it was found that only one CCTV camera was installed in the entire bank.
