Two tourist women drowned in Beas river in Manali – ..
Kullu, June 03 (HS). Taking selfies in the middle of the Vyas river in the tourist city of Manali proved to be costly for the tourist women when they fell into the Vyas river while taking a selfie. The incident happened on Monday when Pal Singh, son of Tilak Ram, resident of village Wudheda, district Bagpat, Uttar Pradesh had come to Manali to visit along with his family members Vijendra, Abhishek, Jyoti, Kajal, Aanchal, Vivek, Meenu and a two-year-old child. The tourists were taking pictures near Vashisht Chowk when suddenly the young woman and her sister-in-law slipped and both fell into the river. The flow of the Vyas river was so high that both of them were swept away by the waves of the river within no time.
As soon as the information was received, the police team under the leadership of DSP KD Sharma reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations.
Sharma said that Anchal (17) daughter of Shripal (addressed above) and Meenu (24) wife of Abhishek (son of Pal Singh) slipped and fell into the Beas river. The body of one of them has been recovered from the river. The search for the other body is ongoing.
