Indian Railways is one of the largest rail networks in the world, which leads millions of passengers to their destination every day. Keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers, the Railways provides many free services, which very few people know. These facilities are provided to make the journey of passengers comfortable and convenient.
 

Passengers will have to show valid railway tickets.
If a passenger has to change the train or wait for some time at the station, he can use the AC or non-AC waiting room available at the railway station. For this, passengers will only have to show their valid railway tickets.
Free bed service
Indian Railways provides free beds to passengers traveling in AC coaches. Passengers of AC First Class (AC1), AC Second Class (AC2) and AC III (AC3) are provided with a blanket, a pillow, two sheets and a hand towel. However, this facility is available in Garib Rath Express at a minor fee of Rs 25. In some trains, beds are also provided to sleeper category passengers. If a passenger does not get this facility, he can complain about it and claim refund.
Free medical assistance
If a passenger feels ill while traveling in the train, the Railways gives him free first aid. In case of critical condition, the Railways also arrange for proper medical assistance at the next station. For this, passengers can contact the train superintendent, ticket collector or other railway employee.
Free food facility
If you are traveling in premium trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi or Duronto and your train comes delayed by more than two hours, then the railway provides free food to the passengers. Also, if you want to order food of your choice, you can use the e-catering service of the railway.
Facility to keep goods at station
Indian Railways provides clocker and locker room facility at major stations, where passengers can keep their goods safe for a maximum of one month. A minor fee will have to be paid to avail this service.
Free waiting room
If a passenger has to change the train or wait for some time at the station, he can use the AC or non-AC waiting room available at the railway station. For this, passengers will only have to show their valid railway tickets. These facilities of Indian Railways make the journey of passengers easier and comfortable. If a passenger does not get any of these services, then he can get necessary assistance by complaining on the railway helpline.
