Traffic was affected for 6 hours due to the road blockade protest emphasizing the drainage issue
In Manpur Chowk of Bihara East panchayat, located in Gaon block, villagers on Monday blocked the road and went on strike against drainage construction irregularities and dirty drain water flowing on the road. Then, the villagers raised slogans against the CM, MP, MLA, administration. Around 6.30 am, young social worker Rajmani Pandey, Pappu Yadav and Mrityunjay Prajapati led the people and reached Manpur Chowk raising slogans and blocked the road. Many women also participated in the event. During this, traffic was completely affected for about 6 hours. Then, vehicles stood in a long queue on both sides of the road. Regarding this, Rajmani Pandey and Pappu Yadav, who chaired the program, said: The Bigra people have been struggling with this problem for a long time. A year ago, the drain was constructed on one side of the road from the 15th Nidhi after several requests by the villagers. A drain was constructed for some distance, and half way through it was abandoned. Due to this, the dirty water coming out of the drain flows into the main road. Due to irregularities in the construction of drains, drains have broken in many places. During the construction work, the officials did not take any action despite the villagers protesting that there were disturbances in the work. At present, the sewage coming out of the sewers is flowing into the main road. Due to this, the people passing through have suffered a lot. Villagers and school students pass through this route every day. Major institutions like Plus Two University, Indian Bank, Saraswati Sisu Vidya Mandir, Hot Bazaar, Police Picket and Panchayat Bhawan are located on this route. Despite repeated requests to the authorities and people's representatives, no action was taken. The villagers were forced to go on strike. BDO-CO BDO Mahendra Ravidas, CO Avinash Ranjan, Incharge of Police Mahesh Chandra and several constituencies cleared the road congestion and spoke to the protestors. He went on a padayatra with the villagers and visited the water flowing on the road and the drains constructed. He said that a committee would be formed and a Gram Sabha would be held to inquire into the irregularities in the construction of drainage. Currently, a diversion route will be constructed and the water flowing on the road will be diverted to a nearby drain. After the authorities assured them, the villagers abandoned the road blockade. Yogendra Prasad, Rahul Gupta, Surendra Prasad, Guttu Lal, Rajendra Roshan, Sudhir Kumar, Pawan Kumar and others participated in the program.
