Toll tax system: Now toll tax will be deducted in this new way, Fastag system will be closed

toll tax: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that satellite-based toll system will be started in the country before the model code of conduct is implemented for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It is believed that the upcoming Lok Sabha election code of conduct will come into effect in the first week of March.

Answering a question in the Rajya Sabha, the Union Minister said that we want to assure the Parliament that the world’s best technology, satellite based system, will be introduced soon for the toll system. Toll blocks will be removed.

With this, people will not need to stop and toll will be collected from the photo of the number plate. This system will charge based on the time of use of the highway or expressway. This fee will be automatically deducted from the driver’s bank account.

Meanwhile, while sharing the data of recovery from Fastag, Gadkari said that toll collection of more than Rs 49 thousand crore has been done from Fastag. The daily collection is between Rs 170 to 200 crores.

He also said that during the UPA government, toll plazas were built in areas adjacent to the city and thousands of people were affected by this.

We are not able to remove these tolls because the contractors are demanding compensation. Gadkari said that in such cases we can only wait for the contract period to end.
