Three results in the same exam, why such a situation in the case of NEET-UG?

The results of any exam in the country will be released once, but the results of the NEET-UG exam 2024 will be released thrice. The results were released for the first time on June 4, the same day as the results of the Lok Sabha elections. As the country is in election mode, its results are not discussed as usual. The next day, June 5, the debate on NEET started and questions were raised about the result. Controversy started over grace marks and examination toppers. 67 students secured 720 marks and stood first. As the agitation intensified, some students approached the Supreme Court. Subsequently, the National Examination Agency i.e. NDA, which conducts the NEET examination, announced re-examination for 1563 students with grace marks and the re-examination was conducted. On June 30th, the results of 1563 students were released for the second time. Now today i.e. on 23rd July, the Supreme Court has directed the NDA to release the result of NEET again. NTN informed that it will publish the new merit list in next two days. Seen this way, the NEET-UG 2024 exam results will be the first to be released not once but thrice. There are many reasons behind why the result was released thrice. It is important for us to know those reasons in order. What happened when? 5th May Examination: NEET-UG Examination was conducted across the country. A few hours after the exam ended, the issue of paper leakage arose in Patna, the capital of Bihar. Hastily the first arrest was made in Patna itself. After that, on May 11, the Bihar Economic Offenses Branch started investigating the case. Petition in Supreme Court on June 1: Some students approached the Supreme Court on June 1 regarding the paper leak. The students have claimed in the petition that there was a paper leak and malpractice. Subsequently, the final answer sheet was published on June 3. June 4 Result: Amidst outcry over the paper leak, NDA released the result. The result was supposed to be released on June 10, but NTA released it six days earlier. When the results were announced, 61 students had topped and all had secured 720 marks. Controversy over mercy marks June 5: NTA's clarification came out after 61 students, not just two, got mercy marks. A large number of students raised questions about the mercy marking system. Subsequently, NDA decided to re-examine 1563 students. These are the students who have benefited by getting mercy marks in the examination. Supreme Court Notice on June 14: The Supreme Court heard the petition and issued a notice to the NDA and the government seeking their response. On the other hand, the students protested. There was a demand to cancel the NEET exam in various states. Opposition parties also became the attackers of the government. CBI probe ordered on June 20: In view of the students' protest and allegations, the government handed over the investigation of the paper leak case to the CBI on June 20. Taking charge of the investigation, CBI registered a case and its team reached Patna. From Patna to Jharkhand's Hazaribagh came on the CBI's radar. Many were arrested and more information came back on June 30: NTA released the results of 1563 people who received mercy marks. Earlier, the final answer sheet was released on June 30 at 1:30 PM. After the end the number of toppers dropped from 67 to 61. Five of the six who scored 720/720 resit. Hearing started on July 8: The Supreme Court started the hearing on July 8 after the NDA and the government filed their reply on July 5. The NDA has denied that there was any malpractice in the examination. NTA also refused to re-conduct the exam. On the other hand, the government said that it does not want to cancel the exam until it gets proof of the paper leak. Supreme Court Verdict on July 23: The Supreme Court has passed a verdict regarding the NEET exam leak. The Supreme Court has said that there is no need to conduct re-examination. There are indications of a paper leak in Patna and Hazaribagh, which the CBI is investigating. Order to republish exam results: Along with this, the court also ordered the republishing of NDA exam results. In this way, the same exam result will be released for the third time now.
