Raipur:- People who are fond of gardening know very well how dangerous mealybugs are for plants. Actually mealybugs are a special kind of white coloured insects that attack plants. They stick to the stems and leaves of the plants and keep sucking their juice, due to which the plant does not get the required amount of nutrition. Due to the stoppage of growth, the leaves turn yellow and start drying.
If the treatment of mealybugs is not done on time, they completely destroy the plant. They harm not only outdoor plants but also indoor plants. Therefore, plants need more care during the monsoon season. In such a situation, we are telling you an easy way to stop the terror of mealybugs and get rid of them.
water spray
If you notice the mealybugs on the plant on time, then spraying water is enough to remove the mild infection. You have to spray the adult, nymph and eggs of mealybugs so that they come out of the leaves of the plants and get separated. Keep in mind that before spraying the plants, lay a plastic sheet under the plant because spraying causes the eggs to fall on the soil which gives birth to new mealybugs.
neem oil
Neem oil works as a natural remedy to get rid of mealybugs. The antioxidant properties present in it prove helpful in eliminating the eggs, nymphs and adults of mealybugs. You have to spray by mixing neem oil in water. Be careful while spraying any kind of oil.
Dish soap or detergent
To protect plants from mealybug infection, you can also use insecticidal soap or detergent like Safer. For this, you have to make a solution by mixing dish soap or a spoon of detergent with water. Now spray the liquid on the infected plant. This will remove all the mealybugs.
Remove the affected part
If any of your plants is infested with mealybugs, the best way is to pluck the affected leaves and throw them away. If the entire branch is infected, you can remove that as well. In fact, the plant will start growing like before in a few days. But if the mealybugs remain, it will cause a lot of damage.
