SENSEX: On Friday, May 24, the last day of the week, trade in the domestic bourses started off higher. Mumbai Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark Sensex touched 75,525.48 points in early trade. At the same time, the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) Nifty also rose 15.45 points to open at 22,983.10. Apart from this, early trade in interbank foreign exchange reserves also saw the rupee appreciate against the dollar. In the forex market, the rupee gained 11 paise to 83.18 against the US dollar. Sensex and Nifty hit new all-time highs in early trade on Friday, domestic bourse hit all-time high. The BSE 30-share Sensex rose 164.24 points to 75,582.28 in early trade. At the same time, the NSE Nifty crossed 23,000 points for the first time with a rise of 36.4 points. The all-time high was 23,004.05 points. Top gainers on the Sensex include Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, Tata Steel, State Bank of India, HDFC Bank and Bharti Airtel. At the same time, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services, Maruti and JSW Steel suffered losses. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were buyers in the capital market on Thursday, buying shares worth a net Rs 4,670.95 crore, according to stock market data. Federal Reserve, gold fall, silver dream broken in Asian markets, South Korea's Kospi, Hong Kong's Hong Kong, Japan's Nikkei and China's composite. US markets ended on a negative note on Thursday. Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were up 0.05 percent at $81.40 a barrel. NSE's market capitalization crossed the $5 trillion mark for the first time.
