The rise in the stock market was halted, Sensex and Nifty slipped after setting a record of strength
– Despite the fall in the market, investors earned 83 thousand crores
New Delhi, June 28 (Tezzbuzz). The upward trend in the domestic stock market that was continuing for the last 4 days was broken today. However, the stock market once again made a new record of strength today. But later due to selling in select stocks, both the Sensex and Nifty closed in the red. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed with a decline of 0.27 percent and the Nifty with a decline of 0.14 percent.
During today's trading, there was buying in the stocks of metal, health care, oil and gas, realty, energy and pharmaceutical sectors. On the other hand, there was selling pressure in the stocks of banking, telecom and capital goods sectors. There was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a gain of 0.41 percent. Similarly, the smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 0.56 percent.
Despite the weakness in the market today, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 80 thousand crores due to buying in midcap and smallcap shares. The market capitalization of companies listed on BSE increased to Rs 439.24 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. Whereas on the previous trading day i.e. Thursday, their market capitalization was Rs 438.41 lakh crore. In this way, investors got a profit of about Rs 83 thousand crore from today's trading.
There was active trading in 4,012 shares on the BSE during today's trading. Of these, 2,187 shares closed with a gain while 1,716 shares showed a decline, whereas 109 shares closed without any fluctuation. There was active trading in 2,318 shares on the NSE today. Of these, 1,262 shares closed in the green zone after making profits, while 1,056 shares closed in the red zone after incurring losses. Similarly, out of the 30 shares included in the Sensex, 11 shares closed with a gain and 19 shares closed with a decline. While, out of the shares included in the Nifty, 25 shares closed in the green zone and 25 shares closed in the red zone.
The BSE Sensex opened at 79,457.58 points with a gain of 214.40 points, setting a new all-time high record today. As soon as the trading started, with the support of buying, this index jumped 428.40 points in a short time and reached its highest level of 79,671.58 points till now. But after this, profit booking started in the market, due to which the movement of this index started declining. Amidst the continuous selling, buyers also kept trying to build up buying power, due to which the movement of this index kept fluctuating. Due to the pressure of selling, this index fell more than 750 points from the upper level shortly before the end of today's trading and slipped to the level of 78,905.89 points with a weakness of 337.29 points. But in the end, supported by buying due to intra-day settlement, the index recovered more than 125 points from the lower level and closed at 79,032.73 points with a loss of 210.45 points.
Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty also jumped 41.40 points today and set a new record of all-time high opening and started trading at 24,085.90 points. As soon as the market opened, due to buying support, this index rose by 129.50 points to reach its highest level of 24,174 points, but after this the selling pressure increased in the market. However, buyers also kept trying to increase buying pressure, due to which the movement of this index also kept fluctuating. Due to selling pressure, this index fell more than 185 points from the upper level and fell to 23,985.80 points with a fall of 58.70 points. After the whole day's trading, Nifty closed at 24,010.60 with a weakness of 33.90 points.
After a day of buying and selling, among the big stocks of the stock market, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories rose 2.67 percent, ONGC 2.50 percent, Reliance Industries 2.28 percent, SBI Life Insurance 1.95 percent and Tata Motors 1.82 percent and were included in the list of today's top 5 gainers. On the other hand, Indusind Bank fell 2.55 percent, Bharti Airtel 2.15 percent, Axis Bank 1.84 percent, ICICI Bank 1.66 percent and Kotak Mahindra 1.53 percent and were included in the list of today's top 5 losers.
