The path of traditional Congress is difficult due to negligence in ticket distribution, former party president Dullo wrote a letter to Sonia, Kharge and Rahul
Chandigarh: The political atmosphere of the state has deteriorated due to the Lok Sabha elections. All political parties are trying their best to win the elections. On the other hand, the internal civil war of Congress is increasing. It is being told that the traditional and senior leaders of the party are very angry about the distribution of tickets in the elections. According to the information, senior leaders have distanced themselves from the election campaign and ignoring senior leaders by the party high command may prove costly for the party.
Although many big leaders including former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, former President Sunil Jakhar had left the Congress last year, but now that the political field has been divided for the Lok Sabha elections, the former members of Punjab Congress are angry with the ticket distribution. President Mahinder Singh KP, former MLA Dalbir Singh Goldy, Gurpreet Singh GP, three-time MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, MLA Dr. Raj Kumar Chabewal has said goodbye to Congress. Similarly, Karamjit Kaur, wife of former Jalandhar MP Santokh Singh Choudhary, has left the party. In Jalandhar, KP and the Chaudhary family are challenging former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
On the other hand, senior leaders like former president Samsher Singh Dullo, former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, former working president Lal Singh, former president Navjot Singh Sidhu have maintained political silence. It is being told that these leaders are very angry with the negligence of the high command. A leader said that the current leadership of the state has ignored senior leaders with the intention of playing alone.
On the other hand, former president Samsher Singh Dullo has written a letter to Sonia Gandhi, party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and KC Venugopal regarding the party’s ticket distribution policy and has demanded reconsideration of the tickets of turncoat candidates. Dullo said that if the neglect of senior and classical leaders is not stopped and the candidates are not reconsidered, then there is a fear of results like the 2022 assembly elections.
Dullo further said that the traditional leaders of the party feel that the party high command has not learned from the past and has ignored those leaders who stood with the party during the dark period of terrorism. In 2022 also, the party had fielded candidates facing ED and Vigilance investigation related to liquor, drugs, mining, SC scholarship. Now again that leader has been made the candidate who was badly rejected by the public in two assembly constituencies.
Displeasure was also expressed over giving tickets to turncoats.
Dullo said that the party has given tickets to turncoats in the Lok Sabha elections. Yamani Tomar, who was the leader of Aam Aadmi Party in Hoshiarpur, has been made the candidate, while Pawan Adiya was a contender for the ticket from Hoshiarpur. Similarly, in Faridkot, Amarjeet Kaur Sahoke, who comes from Akali Dal background, has been made the candidate. He said that if the High Commissioner had to give tickets to women candidates, then former Chief Minister Bibi Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, former Union Minister Santosh Chaudhary and Mahila Congress President Gursharan Kaur Randhawa should have been made candidates. Dullo said that these traditional women leaders should have been given tickets instead of turncoats.
