The Kolkata Police is on high alert for the situation in Bangladesh, with special vigilance in and around New Market.
Kolkata Police is also on high alert after the coup in neighboring Bangladesh. All police stations in the city have been alerted. Instructions have been issued to ensure that Bangladeshi nationals coming to India with valid documents for treatment or other employment in and around New Market are not harmed. Through this, every guest house, lodge and hotel in the city is being checked. Has anyone come from out of state and stayed here without any documents? This is also being investigated. Security increased at Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata In view of the ongoing violence in Bangladesh, the Kolkata Police Headquarters has further increased security at the Bangladesh High Commission in Lalbazar Metropolis. An additional 20 policemen have been deployed there. Kolkata Police's Joint Commissioner (Headquarters) Miraj Khalid said security at the Bangladesh High Commission was beefed up only after the movement began in Bangladesh. Additional police will be deployed for security till the situation calms down. Also, the Kolkata Police has directed all police stations to be on alert to avoid disturbing peace and order in the city.
