Tennis: West Bengal’s Anaya wins girls’ singles title, UP’s Aashi Shamseri is runner-up
In the Hazelnut All India CS-7 Under-14 Boys and Girls Tennis Tournament, top seed Anaya Biswas of West Bengal won the girls’ singles title by winning a thrilling three-set match.
With this, in the boys’ singles, Kaustubh Singh and Rohin Raj of Uttar Pradesh ensured the title clash by winning the semi-finals. In the boys doubles semi-finals, Arjun Sharma and Rohin Raj and Rishant Jaiswal and Kinjlak Srivastava of Uttar Pradesh won. In the girls’ singles final at Kamlesh Shukla Professional Tennis Academy, Gomtinagar, top seed Anaya Biswas of West Bengal defeated second seed Ashi Shamseri of Uttar Pradesh 6-4, 0-6, 6-1.
In the first set, Anaya Biswas won in a thrilling manner by 6-4. In the second set, Aashi Shamseri played some excellent shots and won unilaterally 6-0. In the third and deciding set, Anaya Biswas won the title with a 6-1 victory with the help of better technique. In the first semi-final of boys singles, Rohin Raj of Uttar Pradesh defeated Avinash Rai 6-2, 6-3. In the other semi-final, second seed Kaustubh Singh of Uttar Pradesh defeated Siddhant Chaudhary of Bihar 6-1, 6-2.
In the first semi-final of boys doubles, Arjun Sharma and Rohin Raj of Uttar Pradesh defeated Avinash Roy and Siddhant Chaudhary 6-1, 2-6, 10-7 in a thrilling three-set match. In the second semi-final, Rishant Jaiswal and Kinjlak Srivastava of Uttar Pradesh defeated Pranav Sharma and Krishna Singh of Uttar Pradesh 6-2, 6-3.
