Supreme Court granted bail to NCP chief Nawab Malik in money laundering case

Supreme Court granted bail to former Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik in money laundering case on health grounds. A bench of Justice Bela M Trivedi and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma took note of Malik's legal arguments that he was suffering from various ailments. Malik has been granted bail on medical grounds pending the conclusion of a regular bail plea in the Bombay High Court, the Supreme Court said. Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the Enforcement Directorate (ED), said that the bail was not opposed and that the interim medical bail could be made permanent. The ED case against Malik is based on an FIR registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against international terrorist and 1993 Mumbai serial blasts mastermind Dawood Ibrahim and his accomplices.
