Supreme Court adjourned judgment on Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi case
After several days of hearing in the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Ithka case, the court reserved its verdict on Friday. The case was heard by a bench of Justice Mayank Kumar Jain. The ongoing hearing in the Allahabad High Court on the maintainability of the civil suits filed in the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idka case in Mathura concluded after about 2 hours on Friday. Since then, the High Court has reserved its verdict as the trial is over. The Hindu side argued that the Shahi Idgah Masjid was illegally encroaching on the land which is the birthplace of Lord Krishna. The Hindu side says that the mosque side has no legal right to the land. However, Namaz has been offered continuously here since 1669. What argument did the Hindu side put forward that the Shahi Idga Masjid was built on the same site after the temple was first demolished? The Hindu side claims that the Wakf Board has declared the Wakf property without any title. ASI has also declared Nazul land. Earlier on Thursday, the mosque side had said that the temple side had no legal standing to file the suit. Meanwhile, the temple is said to be arguing again to put the matter on hold. As many as 18 civil cases have been filed seeking the demolition of the Shahi Idgah Mosque, which is illegal. The Palliwasal side questioned the sustainability of these promises. In 2020, lawyer Ranjana Agnihotri along with seven others filed a case in the Mathura Civil Court. The petition was initially dismissed by the Civil Court but was later held to be 'maintainable' by the District Court. Two and a half years later, an additional 17 petitions were filed in the same court. In May 2023, the High Court called for decision on all 18 petitions.
