Stock market rigging case due to exit polls, Pradeep Gupta ready for all kinds of investigation
NEW DELHI: Amid allegations of rigging in the stock market through opinion polls, Axis My India chairman Pradeep Gupta is ready for all sorts of inquiries. On June 4, 2024, the day of reckoning, the market experienced a major crash. Since then, the opposition has been on the offensive. Amid criticism from opposition parties, Axis My India president Pradeep Gupta has now said that he is ready to face all kinds of investigations. Along with this, he said, if the government makes any special rules for pollsters, it will help improve the business. Many organizations, including the opposition, have been demanding a probe by SEBI and JPC into the massive fall in the stock market. Stock markets by survey. There was a big boom in the stock markets when the BJP got a huge majority in the polls, but in the actual election results, the markets fell sharply as the ruling party did not get a clear majority. Pradeep Gupta, president of Axis My India, said that banning polls will not do any good. Axis My India president and managing director Pradeep Gupta had predicted the BJP-led alliance to get 361-401 seats, while the actual tally was much lower. Calling the demand to ban polls childish, he said every citizen and organization wants to know the election results. Banning polls does no good. The investigation will add credibility, we have nothing to do with the stock market, but I am happy with these allegations. Our data and methods are correct. Any inquiry will give me an opportunity to show the world everything I use to predict exit polls. In a sense, this is our opportunity. I support the request because it will give us an opportunity to show our credibility. If Axis My India does not have a demat account, he said, “I am ready to face all kinds of inquiries, whether I will be investigated by the market regulator SEBI.” I have no demat account with Axis My India as far as I am concerned to get any benefit from stock market rise. It is a limited company which is not listed on the stock exchange. There is no external investment in the company so far. Advertisers also don't make any investment. My personal investment in stocks since April is only Rs.35,000. Where did I benefit? Pradeep Gupta also responded to allegations that Axis My India conducted a survey of foreign investors and shared different results with them. “No FII has approached us nor we are working with any foreign investor,” he said. We did not conduct an exit poll for them. He said 70 per cent of Axis My India's customers are corporate customers, including large organizations such as the Bill Melinda Gates Foundation. He denied any tampering with polls. I'm with the law: Pradeep Gupta He said polls not only tell who wins and who loses, but also help political parties analyze the results. “Even if polls are banned, it will not affect our business,” he said. I am with whoever decides the law. Has his image been damaged by the 2024 election results? To this, he replied, “They give us business for our work, not based on how correctly we predict election results.” Request for rules for last five years: For last 5 years I have been going door to door asking for some restrictions. When our people go into the field, they are viewed with suspicion. It should be clarified that we are not sellers, we are not fraudsters and we are not sent by any political party. We are often asked, Who gave you permission? Please tell me from where we should get permission. He said that we have written to the Ministry of Home Affairs to enact a law for the survey. The Law Ministry informed us that there is no law for this. That is why we need legislation first. From there we will send us to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, register there and set up a cell. The question is who is right and who is wrong. Who will monitor it? That's why nothing happened. I firmly believe that we need regulation.
