Order remained in force for 6 hours
Investigators say the order to martial-law is similar to the rebellion, and if Un is found guilty of the offense, they may be sentenced to death or life imprisonment.
The decision by Youn to send soldiers to the National Assembly took many South Koreans to the painful memories of former military rule. However, the order remained in force for only six hours, as a sufficient number of MPs managed to vote unanimously in the assembly hall to vote in favor of cancellation of it. Later, Youn clarified that his order was only with the intention of warning the public towards the threat of the main liberal opposition Democratic Party, which weakened his agenda and impeached top officials.
