Director Ramesh Sippy revealed about a scene from the film Sholay during the masterclass at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa. Ramesh Sippy told that this scene was of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. He revealed that the scene, which shows a silent, unspoken relationship between them, was shot during the 'magical hour' when day turns to night. The director said that the moment felt intuitively right and after consulting with the cameraman, he realized he only had two minutes to capture it perfectly. He said, “The scene between Amitabh and Jaya was about a silent love between them, as she is a widow. The scene felt right when the day suddenly turns into night.
When I spoke to the cameraman, he said that we could only shoot during that magical hour, so we only had those two minutes.” Sippy further said that the scene was very important and the crew had the time to shoot it. There was very little time to do it, so they shot the rest of the scenes in the morning and afternoon and then prepared the sets for the special shots, it took them at least 23 days, but what came out impressed the audience.
