Sensex gains 1,046 points in early trade, Nifty crosses 24,300 points
Stock market: The stock market started with a strong rally in the early trade on Wednesday due to a rally in global markets. As the market opened, the Mumbai Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex gained 1,046.13 points to close at 79,639.20. At the same time, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty rose 313.9 points to 24,306.45 points. On Tuesday, the Sensex closed down 166.33 points, or 0.21%, at 78,737.88. Meanwhile, Nifty fell 63.05 points or 0.26% to 23,992.55 points. Among the 30 companies listed on the Sensex, Maruti, Infosys, Ultratech Cement, Adani Ports, JSW Steel and HCL Technologies were the gainers. At the same time, shares of Asian Paints, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharti Airtel and Titan declined. In Asian markets, Hong Kong's Hang Seng, South Korea's Kospi, Japan's Nikkei-225 and China's Shanghai Composite were in gains. US markets ended higher on Tuesday. In the global oil market, Brent crude futures rose 0.14 percent to trade at US$76.59 a barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were sellers in the capital market on Tuesday and sold shares worth a net Rs 3,531.24 crore.
