Senior Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh passed away at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.

Natwar Singh, the country's former foreign minister and senior Congress leader, passed away at the age of 95 after prolonged illness. He was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram where he was undergoing treatment. Natwar Singh, a resident of Rajasthan's Bharatpur district, was a Dr. during the UPA era. He was a prominent Congressman who served in Manmohan Singh's government. Congress president Randeep Surjewala confirmed Natwar Singh's death on social networking site X. Surjewala wrote in X that the news of former foreign minister Natwar Singh's demise is sad. May God give his family strength to bear this loss and may his departed soul rest in peace. He studied at the elite Mayo College, Ajmer and Scindia College, Gwalior. He also completed his higher education at St. Stephen's College. After this he went to study at Cambridge University in England. His father was serving in an important position in the court. Joined Congress in 1984. In 1953, Natwar Singh was selected for the Indian Foreign Service (IFS). In which he worked for 31 years. He worked in many countries including China, New York, Poland, England, Pakistan, Jamaica and Zambia. After this, he resigned from the External Affairs Ministry in 1984 and joined the Congress Party. In the same year, Natwar Singh contested the Lok Sabha elections and became the Minister of State. He became the External Affairs Minister of India in 2004.
