Sati-Satyavan Mandir: Patna's Sati-Satyavan Temple is famous for its unique festival.

Sati-Satyavan Temple: The history of Sati Savitri-Satyavan Temple located at Ranipur Babangama, Bihar capital Patna is interesting. According to locals, this temple is famous for unbroken marriage and many beliefs of Sati Sathyavan are also associated with this temple. It can be said that there used to be a forest here. Once a year 'Amazing Panjar Bokwa Fair' is held. In this, people walk around with iron ribs attached to their body but not even a drop of blood comes out of their body. Panjar Bhokwa is the emissary of Yama. This tradition is associated with Ranipur Sati-Satyavan temple and is 500 years old. Many local people claim to have witnessed some carrying a bullock cart wheel over their neck and not a single hair being lost. In this fair, people from Thavalpura to Ranipur carry burning copper in their hands. Doing such dangerous work will not harm the people. That is why people consider it as a miracle of God. According to them, Banjar Bokwa was the ambassador of Yemen at the fair, so they did not think of crossing the iron bar over their bodies. Locals believe that when Yamaraj started taking Satyavan's life and taking him to Yamaloka, Savitri also started following him. Yamraj explains to Savitri, but she is not ready to accept. Seeing this, Yamraj told Savitri, 'Ask me some boon and return from here. Savitri said, 'My mother-in-law and father-in-law are blind, so Yamraj fulfilled Savitri's boon. Even after receiving the boon, Savitri did not stop chasing Yamraj, so Yamraj asked her to ask for another boon. Let us tell you that even after receiving the second boon, Savitri followed Yamraja and reached the gate of Yamaloka. Seeing this, Yamraj asked Savitri to ask for a third boon. This time Savitri asked Yamraj for the boon of 100 children and unbroken good fortune. Yamraj also fulfilled this boon of Savitri. Then Savitri said to Yamaraj, 'Lord, I am a pious girl, you have blessed me with a girl child. But my husband's life is with you, how can this boon of yours be fulfilled in such a situation. Hearing these words of Savitri, Yamraj spared Satyavan's life and because of that he came back to life. In this folkloric festival, i.e. fair, the song “Lok Sat Naari Ke Satyawan Hain, Jinse Haar Gaye Bhagavan” is sung by the locals. A three day festival is held in this temple every year during Satwani. According to legend, Yamaraj renounced Satyavan's life due to Sati's severe penance. Sati and Satyavan are remembered from that day till today. The post Sati-Satyavan Mandir: Patna's Sati-Satyavan Temple is famous for its unique festival… appeared first on Prabhat Khabar.
