Saran Flood: Villagers do not sleep at night due to flood panic, people do not sleep in their houses.

People say that they built the house with great difficulty, but due to the flood, the house collapsed to the ground level. More than 300 houses were damaged in the district. However, the administration says that the survey will be conducted and help will be provided to the affected. Their house will be rebuilt. Meanwhile, after the flood receded, the affected families have started to re-collect their scattered belongings. However, there are fears of further flooding. The villagers are sleepless. The flood control department has said that there is no need to panic now. The devastation of the flood is now visible in the villages of Ripilganj, Sadar, Doriganj, Tikwara and Sonpur. After the water has receded, ruins are now visible. More than 99 villages were inundated. People have taken shelter in relief camps set up by the administration. Although the water level is receding now, people are busy rebuilding more than 300 houses in the district after they have been completely destroyed by the floods. People say that the floods destroyed their dreams, not their homes. Relief packages dwindle according to the number of members in the household, leaving many stranded by floodwaters without even a food package. There are many villages in Tiara region where food supplies or relief have not yet reached. People living along the banks of the river around Chapra are not only worried but also sad because of the lack of food parcels. Bablu Bin of John Dhola, sitting at the door of his house surrounded by water, expressed his agony and said that there were total five members in the house, including children, but even after the fifth day from the first day till today, not a single packet was received. The little food and water we had already at home had run out. Shankar Chowdhury said his household has a total of eight members, including men and women, but only four to five packets are received. Kalavati Devi, who lives near Pakka Ghat Daulatganj, says that even half of her family of seven does not have access to food. They say that ready meals are available in many areas, but only bangles and jaggery are available, leaving us half-starved. As there is no provision for clean drinking water, children and entire families are forced to drink contaminated water to quench their thirst. In several panchayats affected by floods in the district, traffic has remained at a standstill for the fifth day. In the last 24 hours, about 3 feet of water receded, but on the fifth day, like the first day, water was flowing on all the roads in these areas and up to the doorsteps of houses. Even now everyone from children to adults and women are imprisoned inside their homes. With intense sunlight and water all around, people face insects, moths and mosquitoes due to extreme humidity. According to the flood control department, the water level of river Ganga is receding near Gandhi Ghat. Here the water level of 48.60 meters is considered as danger mark and currently the water level is 49.53 meters till 5:00 pm on September 23rd. Talking about Khagra i.e. Sarju river, its water level is also decreasing rapidly. The water level of Khagra Chapra was 53.68 meters and now it has reached 51.16 meters. Two days ago it was 53.44 and fell further in the evening. Whereas in Chiswan, danger mark is 57.04 and water level is 56.09. Talking about Kandak Hajipur, its danger mark is 50.32 meters and current situation is 49.30 meters. Similarly, the danger mark of Kantak Rewa is 54.41 m and the current level is 52.36 m. The flood control department officials said that the water level has dropped by 4 feet in the last 5 days and due to this the water level is decreasing rapidly.
