A chartered accountant (CA) named Chirag Chauhan on X shared a post which compared the salaries of an IAS officer & CA and questioned why people chose to become an IAS officer despite the low salary. His viral post has sparked a debate over social media platforms and divided netizens over salary & profession.
The now-viral post was shared on X by Chirag Chauhan. “The average salary of an IAS is the starting salary of a CA.Why do people prefer IAS?”. He also shared a screenshot which shows the salary of an IAS officer as 56000 per month during training and maximum salary as 256000 as a cabinet secretary.
With 8.28 lac views and 2.5K likes, his post went viral, where around 2K X users also commented on his post, which sparked the debate of choosing a profession as per salary or work.

One user asked him “Have you heard an IAS ever reporting to a CA? (Unless the CA is a senior govt employee or a minister)”.

He added, “Total seats of IAS in India are less than total no of CA’s qualify every attempt. Every year only 180 IAS are selected in India. There are almost 2 crore students who clear class 12th every year and they choose their career in any field.”
