Russia fired S-300 missiles on Kharkiv city of Ukraine, seven killed, 16 injured

Kiev, May 24. Russia attacked Ukraine’s second largest city Kharkiv with S-300 missiles early Thursday morning. At least seven people were killed and 16 injured in the attack. Regional governor Oleh Sinyhubov confirmed the Russian attack.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described this Russian attack as ‘extremely brutal’ and again expressed disappointment over not getting enough Air Dome (air defense system) from Western countries. It is known that the Russian army has recently captured many villages of Kharkiv as part of a comprehensive operation.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said the attacks underline the urgent need for US-made Patriot systems to protect the country’s skies. Kuleba said on his social media platform X that Germany had recently promised to deliver the missile system. Getting six more as soon as possible is important not only for Ukraine’s survival but also for peace in Europe.
It is known that Russia also targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on Wednesday. The drone attack plunged five lakh people in the northern Sumy region into darkness. In recent weeks, frequent Russian attacks on Ukraine’s power grid have forced the war-torn country into nationwide blackouts. However, countering the attacks and allowing repairs without adequate air defense could worsen the power supply problem.
