Repressive regime claimed 13 innocent lives, Mamata commemorates Martyrs' Day, targets CPMI
July 21 is going to be a very important day for Bengal as Trinamool Congress is going to celebrate this day as Martyrs Day. Speaking about this day, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee targeted the Communist Party of India (CPIM). Apart from this, he also said that this day is an emotional milestone for the party. Remembering the day 31 years ago, i.e. 21st July 1993, Mamata Banerjee posted on her social networking site, I have lost my comrades, these 13 innocent people were killed by this oppressive regime. Describing the day as important, he said July 21 was the bloodiest day in the history of Bengal. Tomorrow is again July 21, a part of Bengal's folk culture that can never be separated. 31 years ago, on 21 July 1993, a West Bengal Youth Congress rally was held under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, in which a demand was made to make the voter ID card the only required document. Voting was going on. During this rally, 13 people were killed when the West Bengal Police opened fire on the rally in Kolkata, which was to be celebrated as its annual 'Martyrs' Day' event. Every year on this historic day, we remember those brave martyrs, as Mamata posted 'Ma-Mathi-Manush Diwas' on Instagram and remembered those killed during the rally. We remember all those who sacrificed their lives in movements for our country and fellow human beings. We also celebrate this day as 'Ma-Mathi-Manush Diwas' and dedicate our democratic election victory to the people of West Bengal. This day has another permanent significance. Mamata has also invited the people of Bengal to participate in this program on July 21. Calling all the people of Bengal. I am sure that this year like every year you will participate enthusiastically in paying collective tribute to the martyrs and our meeting will be meaningful. He also wrote a poem of his own on this record, in which he wrote, “July 21 is drenched in blood and tears, many tributes to the memory of martyrs.”
