Ready for trial at AIIMS…Pooja Kethkar's fake disability certificate allegation rejected

Former IAS trainee Pooja Kethkar was accused of filing a fake disability certificate. A case has also been registered against him in this matter. The case came up for hearing in the Delhi High Court on Thursday. During the hearing, Pooja Ketkar said that she was willing to undergo a medical examination at AIIMS. Pooja Kethkar has been accused of cheating and wrongly availing other backward class (OBC) and disabled quota benefits. In this case, his anticipatory bail plea came up for hearing in the court on Thursday. During the hearing, the lawyer appearing for Pooja Kethkar said that he was ready to undergo a medical examination. Earlier he had said that he had changed his name. Now he says the disability is fake, but is willing to go to AIIMS to get the disability medically tested. During the hearing, Justice Subramaniam Prasad fixed the next hearing on September 26. The police have requested the court to grant another 10 days for further investigation. As the case continues to be investigated, Ketkar will continue to have interim protection from his arrest. During the trial, the Delhi Police lawyer alleged that Pooja Kethkar had concealed several details in the civil services examination. Pooja Kethkar's senior counsel, in its status report filed in the case, said that the police did not insist on taking her into custody and there was no need for it as all the records were with the authorities. UPSC ban for Pooja Kethkar: Police say it's a conspiracy. The police insisted on taking him into custody as they needed to find other people involved. On July 31, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) canceled Pooja Kethkar's candidature and barred her from further examinations. However, he has denied all the allegations. UPSC and Delhi Police have sought rejection of Pooja Kethkar's bail plea before her arrest. The Delhi Police has said that granting any relief would hamper the investigation and the matter would have a major impact on public confidence and the integrity of the civil services examination.
