After six WPL 2024 matches, RCB Women are sitting in the 2nd spot with 6 points. Although they are in the playoff zone, but the challenge will only get bigger as they play their final two matches against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.
RCB started with victories against UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants, but then lost the matches quite heavily against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. After winning the crucial match against UP Warriorz in the return fixture, it was looking optimistic, but defeat at the hands of Giants has further halted their hopes.
Smriti Mandhana and her girls will be up against Delhi Capitals on Sunday (March 10) and then they play Mumbai Indians on Tuesday (March 12).
RCB Women WPL 2024 Playoff Qualification Scenario
Royal Challengers Bangalore Women do have all three possibilities. They can qualify as the number One Team, can qualify for the eliminator by finishing either 2nd or 3rd, while they can also make an exit from the tournament.
RCB Finishing 1st in WPL Table
For this, Royal Challengers Bangalore will have to win both of their next two matches. Then they have to rely on a few other results. Delhi Capitals will have to lose against Gujarat Giants while Mumbai Indians will also have to lose ideally against the Giants to facilitate RCB’s chances for the summit finish.
How can RCB-W qualify for the Eliminator?
If RCB-W win their next two matches, they will surely qualify for the playoffs. In that case, RCB will finish with 10 points, and either Mumbai or UP Warriorz can reach 10 points in that case. Hence, victories in the last two matches will ensure their participation at least in the Eliminator.
If they win one of their last two matches, RCB can still qualify for the playoffs. In that case, ideally, RCB will have to win against Mumbai Indians and hope Gujarat Giants can get a few wins under their belt.
What will happen if RCB Women lose both their matches?
Losing their last two matches can land RCB in trouble. In that case, RCB will be eliminated if UP Warriorz win two out of their last three matches.
