Ravichandran Ashwin awarded Rs 1 Crore by N Srinivasan & TNCA for Incredible Feat

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), alongside former BCCI president N Srinivasan, acknowledged Ashwin’s significant milestones of 500 Test wickets and participation in over 100 Test matches.

This recognition included a financial reward and symbolic gifts, highlighting Ashwin’s illustrious career and contribution to Indian cricket.

Ashwin’s Remarkable Achievements

Ashwin was awarded a cheque of Rs 1 crore by N Srinivasan. The gesture not only reflects the value of Ashwin’s contributions but also marks a notable moment in his career.

Ashwin showcased his bowling prowess in the recently-concluded Test series agianst England. The Indian spinner breached the 500 Test wicket mark, thus becoming only the second Indian to achieve the feat after Anil Kumble, who has 619 Test scalps. This achievement also ranks him as the 5th spinner globally to reach this milestone, putting him in the esteemed company of Muthaiah Muralidharan, Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, and Nathon Lyon.

Ashwin’s accolades didn’t end there. The 5th Test against England saw him joining the prestigious 100 Test club. The Indian team celebrated this milestone by presenting him with a special memento. India won the Test series against England by a margin of 4-1.

Celebration and Recognition

The accolades continued as the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association honored Ashwin with a Sengol and a special blazer. These gifts are symbolic of Ashwin’s significant impact on cricket, both in India and globally. The ceremony, graced by N Srinivasan’s presence, underscored the support and pride of the cricket community of Tamil Nadu. Anil Kumble was also present at the ceremony.

Ashwin’s focus will now shift to the shorter version of the game as the veteran is set to replicate his success for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024. The 37-year-old has played 197 IPL matches over the years, picking up 171 wickets.

Rajasthan Royals is Ashwin’s fifth IPL franchise as the Indian player has represented Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, Rising Pune Supergiants and Delhi Capitals in previous years.
