Purnia News: Demand for air services not met, AIIMS issue gathers momentum

Purnia News: Purnia. While the demand for air services is still sluggish, the demand for AIIMS hospital has started picking up pace. Every section of the city is advocating opening of AIIMS branch in Purnia. Efforts are being made to make this voice of Purnia resonate from Patna to Delhi. There are also discussions about holding a protest and demonstration for this. It seems that soon common citizens will also take to the streets for this issue. Citizens believe that AIIMS Purnia is needed and the government should seriously consider establishing it. Notably, Purnia is the divisional headquarters of the districts attached to the different borders of India-Nepal and Bihar-Bengal. Critical patients from Kosi division districts also come here for treatment. A large number of people from surrounding districts rely on the hospital and doctors here. In this way, by opening a state-of-the-art hospital like AIIMS here, a large number of common people can benefit and get better treatment. As the region has a large population of poor people, this segment will benefit the most from the treatment. Currently, there is a complete lack of good treatment facilities in the region. Poor people cannot go to Patna and Delhi for treatment. The demand for AIIMS has been increasing since the 90s. Then, the then M.P. made this request several times in the Parliament. In 1989, Union Minister late Taslimuddin not only raised the demand but also gave a reminder letter to the Prime Minister in this regard. This demand was raised in the parliament in the following days. But this need of Purnia is largely ignored. Meanwhile, the Seemanchal Shankarsh Morcha repeatedly drew the government's attention to the construction of AIIMS. Whereas, in recent years, enlightened citizens have raised the demand for construction of AIIMS in Purnia from various quarters. Meanwhile, the youth took up a mobilization campaign on the question of AIIMS construction. The youth have said that they will hold a strong protest in the coming days to emphasize this demand. Setting up of AIIMS at the divisional headquarters of the four districts is not just a demand but a requirement of the entire border post including Purnia. The citizens of the district are very serious in this demand that this need of Purnia is not given importance in the political sphere. Citizens say that a super specialist hospital like AIIMS will be opened for better, modern medical facilities in Seemanchal, which has a population of about 1.5 crores spread over an area of 11 thousand square kilometers. Due to lack of good medical facilities, people here have to migrate to far off places like Patna or Siliguri. Purnia and Kosi are poor and backward regions, say enlightened citizens. Considering all these facts, if AIIMS is built in Katihar, then the entire Seemanchal people will not need to move to Delhi or Patna. Not only Purnia but many surrounding districts depend on Purnia for medical sector. As of today, Purnia's biggest demand is AIIMS. Although Purnia has a great reputation in the field of medicine, it lags behind in terms of modern medicine. In this case, if AIIMS comes here, it's icing on the cake. At its inception, the poor middle class will start reaping the benefits – AK Bose, a retired bank official, opens a new hospital in Purnia. In such a situation, here should be AIIMS. AIIMS must have come to Purnia many years ago. Now is the time to raise this issue prominently, so government should take concrete decisions on it soon – Umesh Mishra, Retired Bank Officer AIIMS We should think seriously. If AIIMS comes here, the people of Purnia will start getting treatment at low cost with state-of-the-art machines and Purnia's growth in health sector will gain wings. If Purnia gets AIIMS, competition will increase among private hospitals in the region – Vijay Manji, advocate and social worker Statistics show that 10,000 patients from the entire Seemanchal come daily, and more than 1,000 patients visit the Purnia Medical College Hospital. Relatives of more than 300 patients visit 400 patients every day. 103 beds are available in male and female wards only: Purnia has health centers in 14 blocks Hospitals Divisional headquarters has a medical college two referral hospitals, four CHCs, 46 APHCs and 259 subsidiary health centers.
