Princess Dubai and her husband’s triple talaq was shared on Instagram
Two months after the birth of their first child, the Prince of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, shared a post on Instagram with his wife Sheikh Mina bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mina Al Maktoum. She immediately divorced Maktoum.
In an Instagram post on July 16, the princess accused her husband of infidelity and announced their divorce.
The post reads: “My husband, since you are busy with other partners, I am giving up and divorcing you.”
In Sharia, instant divorce is called “commandment divorce,” in which the husband says “divorce” three times at once to end the marriage immediately.
Traditionally, in many interpretations of Islamic law, only men could grant a divorce. Women, on the other hand, have the option to seek divorce through a separate process called Khula, where they seek divorce from their husband or the court.
In some jurisdictions, women can include a clause in their marriage contract (nikanama) giving them the right to obtain a divorce.
Meanwhile, the comment section of the princess’s post was flooded with concerned messages from people wishing her well. Some parts of the internet have also noticed that there are no longer any pictures with his wife on his account. In fact, both of them unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Sheikha Mara married businessman Sheikh Mena bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mena Al Maktoum in May 2023, and their daughter was born a year later.
In June, Shaika Mara posted a cryptic post on Instagram that showed her holding a baby. “Just the two of us,” he captioned the post.
Sheikh Mehla Mohammed Rashid Al Maktoum is the daughter of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the current ruler of Dubai, who is also Vice President and Prime Minister.
