Prahalad Joshi protested Karnataka government's renaming of Ramnagar district

Union minister and BJP MP Prakalath Joshi has protested against the Karnataka government's renaming of Ramanagara district to 'Bengaluru South'. Objecting to this decision, he said that the Congress party and the Congress government have proved that they are against Ram. If the Karnataka government does not withdraw this plan, the BJP will withdraw the plan. Prahalad Joshi said that this shows that he is allergic to Ram and the Ram temple and that he is allergic to even the name Ram. They did the same even when we were building the Ram temple, but by the decision to change the name of Ramnagar, the Congress and the Congress government have proved that they are anti-Ram. He said no one requested this. MP Manjunath also wrote that the name should not be changed, but this is happening for vote bank politics and real estate greed. I strongly condemn this and request you to withdraw this motion, otherwise BJP will strongly oppose it and the local unit will fight for it. Karnataka Government's Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil had said that they have decided to change the name of Ramanagara district to Bengaluru South. This is done keeping in mind 'Brand Bengaluru' and based on the demand of the people there. Let us tell you that the home district of Shivkumar, who is the state Congress president, is Ramnagar. He represents the Kanakpura assembly constituency in the district and first floated the proposal in October last year. Ramanagara district was bifurcated in August 2007. Union minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy was the chief minister of the JD(S)-BJP alliance when Ramanagara district was bifurcated in August 2007. Kumaraswamy, who mocked the scheme, had recently said that he would cancel the scheme if he became the chief minister again. Former Chief Minister Kumaraswamy had alleged that the motive behind the scheme was to take advantage of real estate opportunities. Earlier, he had threatened to go on fast till death if the Karnataka government implements the plan to change the name of the district. Ramanagara district is Kumaraswamy's political constituency as he has represented Ramanagara and Channapatna assembly constituencies and has also been an MP from the region.
