Powerful Earthquake Shakes California, Impact Felt as Far as Los Angeles
Sacramento, July 30 (Read) – A powerful earthquake struck California on Monday, with tremors felt as far as Los Angeles. The quake registered a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter near Barstow.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the tremors began around 1 PM local time. The earthquake’s focus was located five miles beneath the earth’s surface. The impact of the quake was observed not only in San Bernardino County but also in Los Angeles, Kern, Riverside, and Orange counties. The tremor’s magnitude in these areas was recorded between 3.5 and 2.7 on the Richter scale.
