The ongoing research work on cucumber production in Agronet House (Shednet House) of Swami Kesavanand Rajasthan Agricultural University has yielded positive results.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Arun Kumar, while taking stock of the cucumber production in Agronet House, said that the production of cucumber has started in Agronet House only after about a month of sowing the seeds. He said that research work is being done in Agronet House on the benefits to common farmers from protected cultivation of cucumbers. Besides, studies are also being done to increase the production by providing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium nutrition through spray in cucumber cultivation. The initial results of which have come positive. Agronet houses, which are built at a much lower cost than polyhouses, are producing good cucumbers. Any aware farmer can come to the Agricultural University and see the cultivation of cucumber in the Agronet House. He told that protected farming in shednet house is the best option for more production and more profit in less time and less cost in Western Rajasthan.

Horticulture Department Head Dr PK Yadav said that in the off season, cucumbers are produced in polyhouses and shednets. But due to very high temperatures in May and June, there may be some problems in cucumber production in polyhouse. In such a situation, due to low temperature and humidity in the agronet house, a good crop of cucumber can be taken. The quality of cucumbers in Agronet house is also good. Pest disease management is also easy and drop irrigation also saves water. Therefore, the common farmer can get more production and more income at less cost through Agronet House in less space.

PHED Student Guide and Assistant Professor Dr. Sushil Kumar told that research student Pawan Kumar is doing research work on cucumber. Besides, it is also being studied whether an ordinary farmer can do protected farming in a shade net house on a small space. Therefore, in the Agricultural University campus itself, saplings of seedless cucumber variety are planted in a 15 by 30 meter shade net house. went. Cucumber production has started only after one and a quarter month. About 40-70 kg cucumbers are being produced every day except one day, which will continue for the next three months.
