PM Modi Reaffirms Support for Palestine on International Day of Solidarity

PM Modi On Palestine: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a message marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on November 26, reiterated India’s strong support for Palestine. Expressing deep concern over the ongoing security and humanitarian crisis in the region, PM Modi called for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, and an end to terrorism.

Advocacy for a Two-State Solution

The Prime Minister emphasized India’s consistent stance on a peaceful resolution to the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy. He reaffirmed India’s support for a negotiated two-state solution, envisioning the coexistence of a sovereign, independent, and viable Palestinian state alongside Israel.

Palestinian Embassy Welcomes the Statement

Abed Elrazeg Abu Jazer, chargé d’affaires at the Embassy of Palestine in New Delhi, welcomed PM Modi’s message, appreciating India’s reaffirmation of support for a viable Palestinian state. He noted that India’s emphasis on a two-state solution and diplomatic pathways aligns with the aspirations of the Palestinian people.

India’s Balanced Approach to the Conflict

Since the onset of the conflict in October 2023, India has maintained a balanced position, condemning terrorism, including the attacks by Hamas, while advocating for dialogue and a lasting peaceful resolution in the region.
