PM Modi Conferred with Russia’s Highest Civilian Award
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the Order of St Andrew the Apostle, Russia’s highest civilian award, by President Vladimir Putin as a significant diplomatic gesture On Tuesday.
Established in 1698 by Tsar Peter the Great, the Order honours Saint Andrew, the first apostle of Jesus and the patron saint of Russia, and is conferred only upon those who have achieved the most distinguished civilian or military merit.
This award was instituted over 300 years ago. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first Indian leader to be conferred with this award.
“Honoured to receive The Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle. I thank the Russian Government for conferring the award. This award is dedicated to my fellow 140 crore Indians.,” PM Modi posted on social media X after the award ceremony.

The Prime Minister was honoured for his exceptional efforts in fostering bilateral relations between the two nations.
Prime Minister dedicated it to the people of India and to the traditional bonds of friendship between India and Russia. He further stated that the recognition illuminates the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
