Participating in the Pragati meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed projects worth Rs 76,500 crore

The Prime Minister presided over the 44th meeting of Pragati, the first meeting of Modi's third regime. It is an ICT based multi-modal platform for proactive governance and timely implementation involving Central and State Governments. In the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed seven major projects worth Rs 76,500 crore in 11 states and union territories. The Prime Minister said that apart from delays in the projects, the benefits of the project will be lost to the public, the Prime Minister reviewed the AMRUT 2.0 and directed to personally monitor the work done under the project Jeevan Mission and ongoing work at Mission Amrit Sarovar was also discussed. During the scrutinizing dialogue on Jal Jeevan Mission, the Prime Minister also reviewed public grievances related to Amrut 2.0 and Jal Jeevan Mission. These projects address both urban and rural water issues. The Prime Minister emphasized that water is a basic human need and the state governments should ensure quality redressal of grievances at the district and state levels. Adequate operation and maintenance mechanism of Jal Jeevan schemes is crucial for its success and the Prime Minister suggested involvement of women self-help groups wherever possible and skilling of youth in operation and maintenance work. The Prime Minister reiterated the need for water resources survey to be conducted at the district level and emphasized on resource sustainability. Directed to monitor AMRUT 2.0 The Prime Minister directed the Chief Secretaries to personally monitor the work under AMRUT 2.0 and states should formulate plans keeping in mind the growth potential and future needs of cities. While planning drinking water for cities,​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ Prime Minister Surya Khar said there is a need to take advantage of initiatives like the free electricity scheme to meet the growing energy needs of cities. The Prime Minister recalled that many aspects related to urbanization and drinking water were discussed in the Chief Secretaries' Conference and that the Chief Secretaries themselves should review the promises made. The Prime Minister asked the Chief Secretaries and Secretaries of the Government of India to continue working on the Mission Amrita Sarovar project. He said that the catchment area of ​​Amrit Sarovar should be kept clean and dredging should be done in these water bodies as per requirement with the participation of the village committee.
