Parkar Lok Sabha Election 2024 Results: BJP leads, Congress second
The counting of votes in Odisha is ongoing. BJP is leading in Burger constituency and Congress is in 2nd place. BJP's Pradeep Purohit and Congress' Sanjay Boy are contesting in this constituency. Sanjay Bhoi is second. Along with the Lok Sabha, assembly elections were also held in the eastern state of Odisha. As part of the fifth phase of elections in the country, polling was held on May 20 (Monday) for 5 Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha, including the Bargar constituency. This time 76.20 percent votes have been reported in Barkar parliamentary constituency. As in many other places in the state, a three-way contest was witnessed in Bargarh. Bharatiya Janata Party has given a chance to Pradeep Purohit in Barkar Lok Sabha seat and Parineeta Mishra from Biju Janata Dal. The Congress mounted its challenge by fielding Sanjay Bhoi in the Barkar constituency. After the election, all eyes are now on the election results. In the 2019 elections, BJP's Suresh Pujari won the Barkar parliamentary seat. Then the BJP fielded Suresh Pujari in the election here. Biju Janata Dal has given ticket to Prasanna Acharya against Suresh Pujari. From here, Congress fielded Pradeep Kumar Debta as its candidate. Suresh Pujari got 5,81,245 votes and Prasanna Acharya got 517,306 votes in the election. Pradeep Kumar of Congress also managed to get more than one lakh votes. Suresh Pujari won by a margin of 63,939 votes in a tight contest. The BJD won the Barkar parliamentary seat in 2014. The political history of Barkar parliamentary constituency is not very old. This new constituency was created by merging several assembly constituencies in two districts of Odisha. This seat came into effect after the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission in 2008. Congress account was opened here in 2009 elections. Sanjay Bhoi of Congress was elected MP. Later in the 2014 elections, the contest turned fierce and despite the Modi wave, the constituency went to the Biju Janata Dal. BJD's Dr. Prawas Kumar Singh won by a margin of 11,178 votes. But in 2019, BJP took revenge for the previous defeat. Congress was relegated to the third position.
